Chaukori is yet another hill station which comes after Bageshwar. The beauty of Chaukori lies in the fact that it is situated on an almost table top mountain, which makes it quite a windy place and is much closer to the Himalayas. Again, the GMVN TRH is superbly places, located, constructed. Not to mention a two storey thin machan built exclusively for the purpose of an uninterrupted view of the Himalayas. The cottages are very well maintained and cosy. There are a number of treks around.

TREKS :

1. A small trek from the TRH front in the direction of Himalayas takes you to a small hillock from where again there is a good view of the Peaks. From here you can see the front side of the mountain facing the Himalayas, dotted with houses here and there with farming. On this trek route, one comes across an old deserted structure (Beware of the dog there), near which is a huge tree, which in December is complete with yellow leaves, giving it and amazing sight, with the Himalayan backdrop. On the left, there is an architectural tree.
After the walk, one can come back and sip hot tea on the machan, while experiencing the joy on orange light of the Sunset reflecting on the Peaks.

EXCURSIONS :

1. Paatal Bhubaneshwar : Look at the section on left for more details.

PLACES TO EAT :

Some 5 kilometres away en route Berinag is a small dhaba, called Himalayan View or Snow View ( I don't really remember the name), which serves excellent food. Ask him for pudina chutney and you will remember it for life.
