Almora is basically a market place. Quite crowded and not much to be seen locally here. There are a few temples, the most important one being that of Mata Nanda Devi, where a bright, culturally rich fair takes place annualy. An excursion called Sitlakhet is a good place to stay. A number of private gardens and orchards are situated a few kilometres away from Almora. A number of foreigners are settled there.
